Daddy's very belated update (5/5- 6/20)

I've been meaning to upload a bunch of photos and videos for a while. Consider this a Teddy montage!

Daddy's paternity leave starts!
Dad started paternity leave on May 23, taking 6 weeks of leave thanks to his generous employer. Teddy seems to enjoy Daddy time so far (although it helps to have a good dose of Mommy as well)...
The below photos are from Jane's first Mother's Day. Clearly, Teddy is a big fan of the gifts he got for his mom, which included a necklace with his November birthstone (topaz), a digital photo frame and a picture bookmark. More importantly, as you can see from the video, Teddy is learning to make fart noises (more on this below).

Here is Teddy on May 23 at the 6 month "birthday party" for his PEPS group (a local group of babies all born within a few weeks of each other). Teddy is not too happy about his inability to eat cake, and the fact that his buddy Ty is bonking him on the head isn't helping either!

Teddy's first trip (to the SF Bay Area)!

We took Teddy out on his first trip in late May, and it was a long one. Jane had a conference in SF, and we decided to use that as an excuse to visit Dave's family. Teddy did decently well on the outbound flight. Not an experience I'd necessarily want to repeat frequently, but he was pretty good for the most part, with only a few episodes of screaming when we had big altitude changes.

Our first night in the Bay Area, we stayed with my brother Drew and his wife Melissa, and their 21 month old boy Zach, who live in Oakland. My mom and dad came up from Palo Alto to have dinner that night (5pm, as we've gotten accustomed to post-Teddy). Zach really likes to eat Korean food. From the looks of it, Teddy really likes to eat Korean toddlers...

Drew, Melissa, and Zach have a very nice place in Oakland hills. It's close to Berkeley and has a lot of parks nearby. They also have a very nice green chair...

and a very nice green stuffed animal!

The next day we went out to visit my college friend Alexis and her twins Mitch and Drew. They are very good at playing "peek a boo". Teddy is, at this point, getting pretty good at making fart noises.

And also at pushups, which he's showing off.

We also got to see our law school friends John and Kelly, who have a little girl just a few weeks older than Teddy. Clearly John has got the daddy thing down pat, as you can see here.

And our law school friends JR and Renee, who have two kids, Madeline and Henry.

Then it was off to see my folks down in the Peninsula. They LOVE Teddy...

My mom was trying very hard to make Teddy happy, but sometimes he just was more interested in mugging for the camera with his Blue Steel look.

We took a brief detour to hit Napa. Although being of a fairly recent vintage (2010), Teddy was very popular with the locals, although some did complain that he was a little poop forward.

Back in Seattle
We got back to Seattle in early June. Clearly, Teddy had grown considerably during our time in California.

Daddy and Teddy have had lots of fun during Daddy's paternity leave, going to parks, the zoo, Pike Place Market, and elsewhere.

Teddy seems to be enjoying himself!
